Meaning of Arithmetic
What is Arithmetic:
Arithmetic is the study of numbers. Arithmetic is a branch of mathematics and its study involves the basic operations of arithmetic which are addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (x or *) and division (÷ or /).
The arithmetic operations are the various combinations that are carried out with the numbers classified into:
Direct arithmetic operations
- This group includes the sum or addition (+) that is represented as the sum of two elements or more elements such as a + b + c, etc. reaching the total sum.
- In this group there is also multiplication (x or *) which is represented as the product of two or more numbers, such as: a x b = p.
- Empowerment is a number raised to another number, that is, a number (base) multiplied by the same number by n times (exponent). For example 'a' raised to 3 or a³ is the result of (a x a x a).
