Meaning of Trash

What is Garbage:

As garbage we call any waste or scrap, residue or unwanted or unusable material. The word comes from vulgar Latin versūra, which is the ‘sweeping action’, which in turn derives from the verb verrĕre, which means 'sweep'.

Garbage is generated by man as a consequence of his multiple activities mainly related to production and consumption. It is made up of all those wastes or materials that are no longer usable or that have lost their usefulness.

Depending on its origin, garbage can be classified as domestic, commercial, industrial, hospital, or the result of construction and demolition activities, or space exploration. Based on this, each type of waste requires a special form of treatment for its elimination, disposal or recycling, depending on aspects such as its biodegradability, dangerousness or toxicity.

Hence, an important part of the garbage cycle is its management, that is, all activities related to waste management, transport, treatment, recycling or disposal. All this in order to reduce the negative impact that our waste can produce on the environment.

For this reason, garbage must be deposited in the places provided by the local administration for its collection and subsequent channeling, either to landfills, sanitary landfills or separation or recycling plants.

Organic and inorganic waste

Garbage can be classified, depending on its origin, as organic and inorganic. It is called organic to all that waste constituted by waste or waste of biological origin, that is to say, that come from a living organism or that were part of it. Examples of organic waste are leaves, branches, fruit and egg shells, animal bones, etc. As such, they are biodegradable.

Inorganic garbage, meanwhile, is the opposite. It is made up of inert materials or substances, that is, they do not have life and that, in any case, have been transformed by man for their use and exploitation. Examples of inorganic trash would be aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bags, batteries, etc. Inorganic garbage is not biodegradable, therefore, it is highly polluting if it is not handled properly.

Space junk

Space debris is made up of all those objects and fragments that were made by humans, and are no longer useful and are orbiting the planet Earth. Space debris is the product of the destruction of satellites or rockets. Larger objects are pulled by Earth's gravity and disintegrate along the way. The smallest, however, remain in orbit. Today, there are thousands of objects in orbit considered space junk.

Technological garbage

As technological, electronic or e-waste, It is known all those waste of electronic devices, such as televisions, computers, cell phones, cameras, printers, etc., whose useful life has been exhausted, either due to deterioration or obsolescence, and that have a specific elimination process, since They are made with components that can be very dangerous or harmful for the environment and for the human being if they are not properly handled, recycled or disposed of.
