Meaning of Cyclothymia
What is Cyclothymia:
Cyclothymia is called a mood disorder in people that, due to its characteristics, is also considered a mild form of Bipolar Disorder.
Cyclothymia is a psychiatric diagnosis with which a chronic alteration of the mood is designated that includes multiple alternating periods of hypomania, that is, states of depression or euphoria considered mild or moderate.
Although the cause of this disorder is unknown, it is known that both men and women suffer from it alike and it is believed that it has an important genetic component, as well as that there are various factors that influence its appearance, for example, traumatic experiences or episodes of a lot of stress.
Cyclothymia develops throughout adolescence, therefore, in some cases it is diagnosed late. Unfortunately, those who suffer from cyclothymia and do not carry out adequate medical treatment, can develop Bipolar Disorder.

Symptoms of cyclothymia
People with cyclothymia may have the following symptoms:
- Emotional ups and downs, that is, hypomanic symptoms.
- Mild or moderate depression.
- Extreme optimism
- Hostile behavior
- Excessive physical expressiveness
