Meaning of Inherent

What is Inherent:

Inherent is something that is part of the essence or is part of the nature of another idea or concept.

The word inherent derives from the Latin verb inhaerere which means "to be internally linked to something". The verb inhaerere is composed of the prefix in- indicating interior and verb haerere which means to be united.

Inherent is synonymous with attached, united, inseparable, intrinsic, essential, inborn, proper, fundamental and antonym of alien, strange, separate, different, contrary.

For example, when it is said that Human Rights are inherent to man, it means that there are principles, freedoms and essential conditions that are fundamental for all human beings for the mere fact of existing and it is these that Human Rights defend.
